Priest and Victim at the same time, holy, innocent, without spot - higher than the heavens, Jesus Christ offered to His Father the sacrifice of praise destined to glorify the Divinity and to open to man the way to eternal salvation.
Mediator of the New Alliance, He has sealed with His Precious Blood the treaty of peace between heaven and earth.
Immolated Lamb, He has effaced the sins of the world and acquired for it eternal redemption.
The whole Catholic doctrine in regard to the redemption can be reduced to this: JESUS CHRIST HAS REDEEMED US BY THE SHEDDING OF HIS BLOOD UPON CALVARY.
This adorable Blood purifies our souls by the application of its infinite merits, principally through the sacraments; it obtains the heavenly inheritance which procures for us eternal happiness.

The most holy Virgin had never another will than that of her God; and never did she desire anything other than the perfect accomplishment of that will.  To this she bore witness in the words she addressed to the angel: "Behold the handmaid of the Lord."  Although these words had special reference to the Incarnation, yet in them Mary gave God the key to her heart, that He might dispose of her and all that was hers freely according to His Own good pleasure.

For this reason, she was always satisfied with whatever God ordered in relation to herself, her health, the powers of her body and of her mind; whaterver befell her, be it pleasing or not, ruffled not in any way her internal peace.

One must remember that this complete committing of herself into the Hands of God did not make her insensible to sufferings.  No...she felt the trials which God sent directly to herself; she felt those which her most pure spouse underwent; and yet even more than all of these, she felt the anguish and the tortures endured by her dear and beloved Son, Jesus.

Still the most complete and heroic resignation takes not the bitterness from sorrow, although such resignation allays it; and the reason is that bitterness of sorrow and most perfect resignation are quite compatible.  Human life is a compound of joy and sorrow, sorrow being the larger element.  No one in the world can be wholly exempt from tribulation.

A Sister Adorer of the Precious Blood strives to imitate her Mother and Model and freely answers the question: "are you prepared to accept with resignation the trials that may be in store for you?"  She does answer: "My heart is ready, O God, my heart is ready!"

How can she say this?  Because a Sister Adorer of the Precious Blood knows deep within her soul that God will sweeten her trials and will help her bear them in such a way, that one day she will thank Him for having sent them to her as "special graces" to be lovingly accepted in reparatiion for the sins of the world!
